Parker, Colorado: This Town LOVES Its Residents

If you ask 10 different people,
"What do you LOVE about where you live?" you will likely get varying answers. Location. School district. Amenities. Home values.

Most of the folks that live in Parker will tell you it's the small town feel. I've written blog posts before about the reasons folks love to live here, interesting facts, my top 10 things I love. In this post I want to share something that is very important to me and makes Parker special.

This Town LOVES Its Residents

What leads me to this conclusion?

I've been a part of several meetings hosted by the Town when they have asked for input on decisions regarding the future of Parker. The most recent meeting was a workshop to discuss changes to the Parker Road corridor. This is the main North/South highway that runs through the center of Parker. We were asked for our input through a live survey. (They are also offering the survey online.)

I've also attended informational meetings offered to get the word out to the residents about changes. We had a recent change to the sign code and the Town held several meetings.

The Town invites residents to come to the Town Council and Planning Commission meetings to be heard on issues that are near and dear to them.

The Town also offers various Citizen Academies so that residents can learn about the functions of Mayor, Town Council, Town offices and the Police Department. I attended in 2014 and learned a great deal.

All of these outreach initiatives make me feel like I am the TOWN, not just a resident who happens to live here!

This is my entry in the August ActiveRain contest, Love Where You Live.

Donna

There is so much value to a community and planning when they involved the people who live there. It says something about Parker that they take the time and effort to have meetings on various issues and to keep residents informed. I cansee why you really like living there! And it's a great selling point for those considering a move to Parker!
