Slow Down and Enjoy Life More
We receive a monthly newsletter from our Estate Planning attorney, Frank Evans. Last month's "issue" included an article the caught my attention: 17 Ways to Slow Down and Enjoy Life More. I have to admit, I'm just as guilty as the next guy or gal. I spend a lot of time running around and not enough time relaxing and just plain enjoying life!
I picked FIVE out of the 17 ways that "spoke to me".
1. Be thankful
This helps us to be in a positive frame of mind. It's much harder to think negatively when you are in a thankful mindset.
2. Read a novel
This is one of my FAVORITE ways to slow down. I can escape any stress-business or personal, when I sit down and "curl up" with a good book. I'm currently reading the DaVinci Code. (I heard the book was better than the movie.)
3. Take a walk in the park
I find this is the BEST way to let go of any stress or negative vibes. It gives a person time to think and in some cases "resolve" issues during this "thinking" time. You also have a chance to take notice of your surroundings and the serenity of nature.
4. Play card or board games with friends
This also works with your spouse! Board games are great when you have visiting friends or family members. It gets everyone together and for the most part, it's a level playing field. Everyone has a chance to play and have fun. You know you are having a great time and ENJOYING LIFE when everyone is laughing!
5. Watch the sunrise or sunset
It's almost impossible to be doing or thinking about anything else when you are focused on watching a sunrise or a sunset. If you look the other way, or your mind wanders you might miss the majesty of mother nature!
