Pay It Forward: Pop Top Tabs III
In early March, Dawn Fabiszak wrote a Pay It Forward post about saving pop can pull tabs for Ronald McDonald house. I loved this idea. I've been recycling pop cans (maybe you call them soda cans, depending where you live, I used to call them soda cans too) for years, however I've alway just pocketed the few dollars that I got from recycling. I was doing a good thing~recycling, but for my own benefit!
Dawn's post inspired me to start saving the pop can pull tabs (pop tops, she calls them) for Ronald McDonald house charities. They need the support! So later in March, I started saving pop tops too! Someone in my office noticed I was doing it and they decided to save them too! How awesome is that?
On Monday, this week, I went out to lunch at a newer restaurant here in Parker, Colorado. It's a small space and they haven't quite figured out how to put in a fountain machine for soda/pop. In the meantime, they are serving Coca Cola and other soda/pop in the can. We ordered our lunch and 4 of us ordered sodas.
When the waitress came to clear our table when we were done eating, she took all the cans. Wait!!! I need the pop tops! She asked me why and I explained. Before we left, she brought me several more pop tops from other patron's cans! I think I started something. Actually, I guess DAWN started something!
